Osgood-Schlatter Disease (OSD) is a common condition that primarily affects adolescents, particularly those who are active in sports. It involves inflammation of the growth plate at the tibial tuberosity, just below the knee. This condition is often associated with physical activities that involve running, jumping, or sudden changes in direction, which put repetitive stress on the knee joint. Although OSD is typically self-limiting and resolves once the bones stop growing, the discomfort and pain it causes can impact a young athlete’s performance and daily activities.
While physical therapy, rest, and, in some cases, medication to manage pain and inflammation are common treatments, there’s another critical factor that should not be overlooked—nutrition. Proper dietary choices can play a pivotal role in managing OSD, speeding up recovery, and preventing future issues.
TBrx Body Coach Rudy Rodriguez explains the importance of nutrition and hydration. He also cracks down on the importance of eating anti inflammatory foods.
